Homework
Homework is given to help your child develop good work habits, become more responsible and to review concepts taught in school. Please make sure your child has a quiet place to do his or her homework and has all the necessary supplies.
Your child should read every night for 15-20 minutes at the beginning of the year (and more time should be added as the year goes on) and also do the following:
In general, Monday through Friday nights your child will have a math sheet and another subject such as word work, science, or social studies.
In general, on Friday nights and over the weekend your child should just read. Usually there will also be a reading response also. Please check your child's folder because occasionally I will change the assignment.
If the Scholastic magazine is in your child's folder, please have him or her read it (to or with you) and bring it back to school the next day.
Throughout the year, projects will be given which will often require your help and guidance. Please do not wait until the last minute to start it.
Please make sure your child's home-school communication folder and book baggy are always with him or her and all materials sent home are returned the next day. Please be sure to help your child stay organized by looking at his or her folder every night and returning any forms as soon as possible. Papers on blue paper need your immediate attention.
